Mai Chau Homestay

MaiChau is located in Hoa Binh province, approximately 135 km from Hanoi and 60 km from Hoa Binh. From the top of Cun Mountain, one can admire the superb panorama of Maichau surrounded by a green valley and stilt houses. Many minorities, including the Thai ethnic group, live in Maichau. Mai Chau can be a base for some trekking tours to the villages around, this is with homestay overnight on the traditional houses of the H'Mong and the Thai. Worth a guided treking tour there. Tourists especially enjoy the minority specialty dishes including rice cooked in bamboo and grilled meat. They also enjoy watching traditional dancing, music performances (bronze, drums, gongs), and Thai minority singing and dancing. The remote minority villages are attractive sites for tourists.

Mai Chau is called “another Sapa”. Mai Chau itself is very rural with no real downtown - rather, it is a collection of villages, farms and huts spread out over a large village area. The most interesting thing to do here is trekking through Thai villages. You can visit and understand customs of Thai people in Mai Chau.

Day 1: Ha Noi – Hoa Binh - Mai Chau Homestay (L/D)
8h00 We leave for Mai Chau, stop over in Hoa Binh Town to see the biggest Hydro – Electric Staion in Vietnam, After that heading to Mai Chau. Stopping on the way to take in the spectacular scenery. Following lunch in Mai Chau town we drive to the White Thai village – Lac Village check in the stilt-house, lunch. Afternoon we walk to the surrounding village. Our hosts for this evening will be the White Thai minority people. In sampling these peoples hospitality, we find out a little more of their lives and cultures with a cultural exchange following the evening meal.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Hanoi (B, L)
Following breakfast we embark on a lovely walk to Mai Chau Market and Van village. As we walk we will encounter the local villagers going about their daily business tilling the fields, logging or herding the buffalo. We enjoy lunch before we drive back to Hanoi. Visit Muong village in Hoabinh. 18h00 arrive in Hanoi end of the tour.
